It normally wouldn’t make sense for the Defense to call the ME. They are defending the accused, not attacking the victim. But it would make a little more sense in this case but I bet the prosecution objects to the tox report.

If the prosecution doesn't call in the medical examiner with his/her report, how does one prove the cause of death? Seems kinda like having a murder trial without a body.

The state doesn’t want the jury to know that TM had traces of pot in his system at the time of death.
