The NFIB has just issued a statement on the temporary delay of the employer mandate provision of the healthcare reform law.
National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Director of Federal Public Policy, Amanda Austin, made the following statement moments ago in response to the Obama administrations announcement that it will delaying implementation of the employer mandate provision of the healthcare law for one year.
This is simply the latest evidence that implementation of this terrible law is going to be difficult if not impossible, and the burden is going to fall on the people who create American jobs, Austin says.
Temporary relief is small consolation. We need a permanent fix to this provision to provide long term relief for small employers, the statement concluded.
The Administration is announcing that it will provide an additional year before the ACA mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin. This is designed to meet two goals. First, it will allow us to consider ways to simplify the new reporting requirements consistent with the law. Second, it will provide time to adapt health coverage and reporting systems while employers are moving toward making health coverage affordable and accessible for their employees. Within the next week, we will publish formal guidance describing this transition. Just like the Administrations effort to turn the initial 21-page application for health insurance into a three-page application, we are working hard to adapt and to be flexible about reporting requirements as we implement the law.
That’s nice. Are the associated taxes also delayed?
Delay the whole %$#&^*()&## thing forever.
And here I was thinking this was going to be the year of the last Independence Day.
Does the law allow them delaying it? I don’t want them too. I want the American people to “know what’s in it” as Pelosi would say before the next election.
Maybe the supreme court needs to take this up?
This was delayed until after the 2014 elections. Occams Razor.
How stupid does he think voters are? Don’t answer.
This was delayed before employers could dump their workers for amnestizos to save $3000 because they are not covered. Those displaced workers might vote.
Penalties delayed, but individual mandate still in place. I wonder what that means for people trying to qualify for subsidized healthcare? How do you qualify if your employer doesn’t report?
delay until after 2014 elections...my thoughts also.
Is this a violation of the law as passed and signed? If so, chalk up another item to a (what will never happen) impeachment.
The Dems blackmailed businesses for contributions and gave them the delay in time to keep job loosers from voting against them in 2014...
yes, it’s a ‘win-win’ for the Dems LOL!
I wish we could stop him from delaying this. The sooner it happens, the better chance we have of stopping it.
Mostly based on your taxes(W2 income) and pretty much for anybody who's employer who doesn't offer coverage or are any of the uninsured I'm guessing. At this point, they probably only care if you are covered or not and figure to rack up the tab for later.
Other than pushing it off past the election as a primary reason, They pretty much want as many of the people in the exchange as possible NOW because they knew employers had no choice but to drop coverages or cut hours in many industries starting next year.
They HAVE to get the Exchanges working first and to that end they are way behind and I figure they will be pretty free with our tax money to get people in. Just show your income and whether or not your employer offers "affordable" coverage in their mind will probably take little proof. Plus employers are reporting some info already on already approved forms. It's probably enough info to let people in.
They are so way behind in setting up the exchanges insurance companies don't even know how they are supposed to get paid yet. So nobody's lining up to play.
Every employer in the country just breathed a slight sigh of relief today for a little more time before all hell broke loose.
Obama is postponing the mandatory employer requiremenmts of Obamacare to delay the negative effects, reactions, and possible bad press until after the 2014 election.
Everything this administration does is geared toward the 2014 election.
Impeachment File on Benghazi Coward B. Hussein Obama, formerly known as Barry Soetoro, a Legal Citizen of the Sovereign Nation of Indonesia.
The statement from the government says they took this action to relieve the paperwork burden to employers. The problem is that paperwork is required to fix eligibility for the subsidy. The penalties were a major component in paying that subsidy (about 25% for a family of four making $50k.). I am betting there is going to be a large negative impact on the very people the democrats promised to help with this bill. Somehow it will be blamed on the GOP.
***BEST EXPLANATION***
Obama will delay this ‘key’ part of Obama-care till after the 2014 midterms. What a surprise.
He knows what will happen when this mandate goes into effect.
The employer mandate is much more punitive and destructive than the lame personal mandate is.
Don't you believe Valerie Jarrett when she says it's not political?
