Perhaps Mr. Carter should BECOME a Roman Catholic before criticizing it so blithely. The history of women "priests" in the early church is extremely blurry, and has Mr. Carter ever heard of the Virgin Mary, whose prominent place in the theology and practice of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages tremendously raised the status of women during that era. Medieval women had many right and privileges in society that were lost at the Reformation. Even staunch protestants admit as much.
