Egyptian security and medical officials say an American has been killed in the Mediterranean coastal city of Alexandria during clashes between supporters and opponents of Egypt's embattled President Mohammed Morsi.

Alexandria security chief Gen. Amin Ezz Eddin told Al-Jazeera TV that an American was killed Friday in Sidi Gabr Square while photographing the battles between opposition youth and members of the Muslim Brotherhood, from which Morsi hails.

A medical official told The Associated Press the American was wounded by gunshots and died at the hospital.

Six Egyptians have been killed in days of clashes ahead of nationwide protests Sunday demanding Morsi's removal.

SNIP

The State Department said Friday that Americans should defer nonessential travel to Egypt, citing the uncertain security situation. It also said it would allow nonessential staff and the families of personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo to leave Egypt until conditions improve.

An ultimatum from the rebels to Morsi:

"YOU HAVE UNTIL 5 PM TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO RESIGN OR WE WILL MOVE ON QUBBA PALACE!"

(Is the Egyptian Tea Party there?)

Seems like more than enough time for Morsi to set up the tanks, mines, barbed wire, and drone/AC-130 attacks (as advised by Kerry, Hytlery, and Oblahblah as per their "defense plan" for repelling the US Tea Party in DC.)

Hope they got the ones who did that....I suspect there are going to be people there who want to see violence and will provoke it as well.

It's startling because the media actively seek to keep information from us if it might have a negative impact on Zero's image.

Uncertainty how Morsi will respond....but there are professionals who study demonstrations and can pretty much tell when the tipping points are etc....so governments are in close touch with them at these times.

Additionally other nation leaders are of course monitoring things as well as likely in contact with Morsi.

Obama has three ships loaded with Marines in the Red Sea in case things get out of hand...I can only hope those are just for “show” and will not get our guys involved in this.....none of our business anymore than Syria....but of course Obama wants his say in everything at all the worng times.

Thouworm...I am not nuts about BBC REporting...they have been found to outright distort facts and create their own stories from nothing....not sure about their tweeters either....just saying.

Looks like the people aren’t wasn’t any time telling these guys to get out of dodge...(their house).

Here’s a clip of interest....They’re all going to try and quell the storm before it breaks...

The leader of Egypt’s Islamist Nour party, Younis Makhyoun, presented himself on Sunday as a mediator with protesters and urged Morsi to make concessions to avert bloodshed on the streets. “There must be concessions, even if they are difficult and bitter, to safeguard the blood of Egyptians,” Makhyoun said. “We are worried about an escalation that will be hard to control, and that guns will have the loudest voice.”

Mmm, mmm, mmmmm... where is a ‘civilian force’ when you need one.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/07/01/us-egypt-protests-idUSBRE95Q0NO20130701

There was no sign of police or fire service protection for the Brotherhood’s head office, where witnesses said guards inside the building fired on the attackers. Two people died and 11 were injured in that clash, hospital sources said.

(snip)

That put the spotlight on the army, which displayed its neutrality on Sunday, making goodwill gestures to the protesters after urging feuding politicians last week to cooperate to solve the nation’s problems.

Some uniformed policemen marched among protesters in Cairo and Alexandria, chanting “the police and the people are one”, and several senior officers addressed the Tahrir Square crowd.

That cast doubt on whether Mursi could rely on the security forces to clear the streets if he gave the order.

LOL!

The Ikhwan are cowards! Morsi’s boss, the Valerie Jarrett of Egypt, is on the run unless he is going to die in his burning office in Mokattam!

I'm afraid creating maximum chaos, doing exactly the wrong thing ALL the time, and bad timing is of course Oblablah's mission -- especially given his history. Considering his Nero-like narcissism, loyalty to the Muzzie Bro-hood, and readiness to sacrificing US resources, assets, and prestige in defense of Islam and its Sharia Law, we can expect...the worse-case scenario.

I just posted USS that the Ikhwan are cowards! It’s a great sign that the governor, the commander of police couldn’t order them to protect him OR they simply won’t!

I read that Mosi has given the military the same authority as the police for this demonstration...so they can step in a so called NON-Military way.
