Really? I'm pretty smart, but I'm a terrible liar, and I refrain from it largely on that basis. It's too much trouble.
I didn't say smart people lie more. In fact, I would say they lie less, because they understand the problems involved in telling lies. Which is also why, when smart people do lie, they are better at it than dumb people. And the latter is what I said.
