All Rubio needs to say is that he no longer supports the bill because his constituents don’t want it.
That would be a good first start.
He will have to admit that he has failed in his efforts to help craft a bill that would accoplish the things he promised voters when he ran for Senate. He should say he did his best but the bill that has evolved does not meet the minimum requirements I laid out when I asked people for their votes.
So in order not to disenfranchise the people who voted for me, who believed what I promised, I cannot support this bill.
