Twenty-three Boy Scouts were hospitalized after a lightning strike in New Hampshire on Monday night, a fire chief said.
Chief David Parenti, of Belmont Fire Station, said the Scouts, aged from 12 to 16, were at the Griswold Scout Reservation in Belmont when the incident happened.
Parenti told NBC station WHDH that many of the injuries were minor burns. He said six scouts were given cardiac monitors because the burns were in the chest area.
However, he said this was done mostly as a precaution.

Wondering where this troop’s leaders stand on the ‘new’ scouts !?
Just saying ... the Lord works in mysterious ways.
I don’t know why “homosexual agenda” has anything to do with this story. This is about kids who were signed up for this camp months ago.
Can’t. Resist. Thinking. Of. Judgement.
Sorry.
And insulting to God.
Ala jo jo biteme: “One word folks. Climate change!”.
I feel bad for the boys and their leaders. I especially feel bad for the camp director. He is a very devout Catholic and a decent guy. The despicable actions of the National Council put all of the full-timers in a tough position.
Looking back, my son, the Eagle Scout, and I had some wonderful times up at the reservation. Those are decent memories that the homo-lovers at the National Council cannot take away.
Those were vicious storms for the Red Hampshire area...nasty winds even some distance from the actual storms.
I mentioned to my wife that there was lightening and severe rain cells driving home through Andover yesterday, around 7:00 PM. She was surprised, because in Boxborough, 20 miles away, the weather was completely calm. This was an isolated storm.
I agree, God was not expressing displeasure with decisions made by adults a thousand miles away in Dallas.
On my honor,
I will do my best
To do my duty to God
and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake,
and morally straight.
In very high regard...
It is a prayer. Prayers should not be taken lightly.
Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
What is it with tornadoes and trailer parks and lightening strikes and scouts?
So God punishes innocents for the sins of others?
God gave David three choices after Bathsheeba.
It is NOT a prayer.
A prayer is: "A solemn request for help or expression of thanks to...(sometimes God).
It is an Oath or Promise.
Those too should not be taken lightly, and I wasn't... Øbama does take them very lightly.
Quick, Scouts: play the lottery!
Oh, for the love of Pete. Some men are so obsessed with homosexuals that you almost have to wonder about them ...
My only wish is that none of the kids were severely injured and that each of them will make a rapid and complete recovery.
It is also what I said. Who do you think you are making a oath to when you say those words? God hears it.
