Actually it was quite appropriate and would have been funny if Lenno had delivered it but his timing and delivery was a little off. Either way in the light of the entire opening and opening day it was miniscule.
As I said before and I’ll say it again, the state’s goal at this point is a hung jury so that they can negotiate with the defense for a deal not to refile charges and thus appear reasonable and magnanimous and bring this to an end. The more it goes on the more they risk unveiling the witness tampering, perjury, corruption, incompetence, and double dealing by the state and its surrogate the BGI.
A conviction would send this to the 5th DCA, an appeal, overturning of the court’s decision, a spanking from on high — all things that this court and prosecutor want to avoid and can with a hung jury. An acquittal and even a conviction ties their hands — a hung jury gives them a lot of wriggle room.
The Attorney General and the Governor and the Special Prosecutor and even the Scheme Team want this thing off the front pages and into obscurity, but from what came out in court yesterday and then will perhaps today with Witness 8, there will be a full acquittal — the state’s worst nightmare.
>but his timing and delivery was a little off.
In other words, it wasn’t exactly the best thing to say in the trial opening.
>As I said before and Ill say it again, the states goal at this point is a hung jury so that they can negotiate with the defense for a deal not to refile charges and thus appear reasonable and magnanimous and bring this to an end.
And save face and prevent embarrassment.
>The more it goes on the more they risk unveiling the witness tampering, perjury, corruption, incompetence, and double dealing by the state and its surrogate the BGI.
In other words, forget egg on the face, they probably have an entire omelet.
>The Attorney General and the Governor and the Special Prosecutor and even the Scheme Team want this thing off the front pages and into obscurity.
In other words, they realize that they’ve made a real big mistake.
>but from what came out in court yesterday and then will perhaps today with Witness 8, there will be a full acquittal the states worst nightmare.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of guys.
