Agreed. The modern LP has lost it's way. Some would argue, it never really "found" a way to begin with...

Philosophy and ideology in a political Party don't often match...

You could not be more wrong about me. It is you that want to put me into a box and not the other way around. I am simply stating that without the moral compass of the belief in GOD... society cannot survive under our Constitution. American Libertarianism is defined by the Ron Paul movement (whether earned or not) and using that measure... I want very little to do with that movement. BTW... Many of the Founders expressed what I have expressed.

Any God? Or one specific God? If I don't believe in YOUR God, but believe in MY God, do you have to live by MY religions precepts?

Having faith and a moral code is the preferred way to go about this. Enforcing one credo over another, codified in law and backed up with government guns, is not...

Agreed on the Ron Paulites though. I still think they were co-opted by dope smoking liberals looking to discredit any forces looking to reduce government as "Truthers" and "Paul-bots".

I speak of the one and only true GOD. Go back up to my original post and read the direct quotes of George Washington and you will know which GOD that I am talking about. Here is a Ben Franklin quote on GOD:

There is only one GOD... HE is not Buddha... it is not allah... it is not big government... it is the GOD of Abraham. I am not saying that we should limit religious freedom (except islam is a death cult and not a religion so it should be banned)... but I speak of the same GOD that granted to us our RIGHTS... the GOD from which Liberty is derived... the GOD that Franklin and Washington so often referenced.

I am glad that we agree on the Paulites.

So... Odin and Jupiter/Zeuss are out? No Rights for their followers? After all, the Nordic 9 Virtues are nearly identical in sentiment to Ben Franklin's 13 Virtues.

Like the Founders, who consisted of a variety of Protestant/Catholic/Deists, we need to recognize that while religious beliefs are necessary for a moral people... Codifying ONE religion into Law is a BAD idea.

I did not state that other religions need be discriminated against... with the exception of islam. Did you not read my response? You ask me which GOD I am speaking of... the GOD that our republic was founded on... The GOD from whom our rights that are codified into the Constitution came from... the one and only true GOD. If you want to worship Zeus or Odin or Jupiter... you are free to do so under our Constitution. You are not granted the right to redefine the GOD that the Founders reference time after time after time. Are you trying to say that our Founders created a Republic that would keep you or anyone else from worshiping as you see fit? They did not and neither have I.

Nope. But, that is happening RIGHT NOW because people like you wanted to codify Religious protection into the body of Law. Now, someone who DOESN'T believe like you do is using all of those powers to protect his Religion from YOU.

A truly limited Federal government, one that actually adheres to the "Congress shall make no law" provision, wouldn't have an "IRS" capable of targeting anyone's belief based organizations as such a Department would never exist in the first place.

This is my point. Anyone trying to not only get rid of the defects in our current system, but also all of your beloved protections as well, is deemed some kind of Godless heathen bent on destroying the Foundations of the Republic... Rather than restoring a system desperately out of balance.

You cannot have it both ways. Not and expect to get anything positive done.

I want to go back to ORIGINAL INTENT. I want to go back to a government under law... the US Constitution. I want my government to govern by consent and not decree. I want no more or no less than what our Founders gave us. I do not want religious persecution and I do not want Slavery to return. I just want to go back to a society that loves America, loves individualism, loves success, does not punish creativity and a society that lives under the morals that allowed this great republic to become as great as it once was. Look what the GODless society of humanism and communism has wrought. We are on the precipice of destruction. We have a GODless creature of satan ruling over us. We invite demons into our home that worship satan... we pay for them to live amongst us... and they have killed and maimed Americans by the thousands. I must go back to work but whether you believe me or not... what I want is clear and precise because I want exactly what the Founders wanted... and I have supplied that for you and in their own words.

We agree on all of that.

I also believe that it takes just as much sheer "faith" to be a "secular humanist" or "militant Atheist" as it would the most devout Catholic. While I want my Laws to be written in such a way that Race and creed pay no part towards bias, I don't want them so written as to disallow faith itself either.

I do not think our end goals for our government are as far apart as you may think. Different paths and different reasons leading to the same Destination.

You are confusing Libertarian ideas with the Libertarian Party. I view myself as a Conservative Libertarian and am pro life.

As to this article, people who believe in Libertarian principles are much interested in acquiring power over others whereas people who are on the left lust after power.
