I was also unaware, until now, that I once worked for the Canadian Air Force, instead of the United States Air Force as I believed.

Members of Congress should be required to take and pass a test prior to taking office. The test should include questions on US history, US geography and basic economics. My bet is more than half of members of Congress would fail.

Visited Duluth lately ?Will be there in August. The only thing north of Duluth is pine trees.

Passing a law to build the fence and then ignoring said law is a perfect example why the House of Lords should not be entrusted to create YANF amnesty.

I, having had a bad bout of stomach flu, hope to be excused this ramble. First post for eight days. Perhaps it does shed some light on how things have changed. I was hitchhiking/bussing my way to Western Canada from Toronto, no Trans-Canada highway existed. I elected to go via Detroit. At Souix Falls SD. I bought a ticket to Winnipeg, Canada. It stopped at Fargo ND, and would depart at 630am next day. I spent overnight at the Salvation Army Hotel. I missed that bus.
I hitchhiked as far as the border town of Pembina ND. I went into a convenience store for a can of pop. Suddenly I heard the whoo whoo of sirens. Dick Tracy stuff, I thought. A border patrol car pulled up beside me and a voice rasped "get in". A small officer wearing a large Stetson, then got on his radio and said "we got'im, we got'im".
He grilled me for what seemed like an eternity. His eyes bored right through me. I showed him my bus ticket from Jack Rabbit Lines Transport to Winnipeg. Reluctantly he let me go, but drove me to within sight of the Canadian customs.
Sometime later, I learned that Canadians were crossing that border to work without permits. It was lower down in ND. I realized the man was just doing his job.
That highway north of Duluth, is very pleasant and there is a nice little town of the way to Canada. Having a car and identity, proving my transient intent, I was welcomed years later, to that part of the USA.

Pretend for a moment that Sarah Palin said this...it would be on EVERY morning TV show that pretends to report "news"...But Mary Moon Landrieu, the Moron, will get a free pass. She adores the Clown, you see...just like the "journalists".

I am sorry for my incredibly stupid mistake. You obviously did not make the error....one US Senator is 1%. I was thinking number of states instead of number of US Senators!

Not true.
Drive north on HWY 61. Visit Judge Magney State Park (one of a half dozen great MN parks in the area.) Across the highway is Nanibujou Resort. It's exceptional. Get a reservation early.
Then drive on up to Thunder Bay and visit one of the amethyst mines. Pick up chunks of the red mineral from the crusher for $1/pound Canadian. Then there is a Fort ?? reenactment play in the old part of town...
Lots more to do and see than just Duluth.

I think we all know the "DUMB" in this headline, and it isn't a fence.

Still recovering from my bout of stomach flue and nice to know I did not (as far as I know) tee anyone off. This on my little odyssey in 1956 across the highways.
Yep. GCHQ was my hometown's main employer. Out of politeness, I should mention to anyone who wonders what this is. General Communications Headquarters. The arm of surveillance, via radio signals in the cold war. Clandestine stuff. (chuckle).
To: Peter Libra
Ahhh...am sure no one was upset with your little slice of America tale.
And bet there are now a few who enjoyed their first exposure to signals intelligence.
Good luck with the flu!
