Rand Paul to Illegals: We Will Find Place for You; Envisions 12 Million New Taxpayers

In his prepared text for a speech he is delivering today at the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, Sen. Rand Paul (R.-Ky.) said to illegal aliens who want to live and work in the United States: “[W]e will find a place for you.”

Paul also said he envisions today’s illegal aliens becoming additional “taxpayers.”

“Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers,” said Paul.

You and I will have to agree about whether or not most of the illegals are already on welfare.

I see it at every grocery store, school and even some restaurants that I visit. (LoneStar card, free breakfast, lunch and dinner plans at schools, etc.) Friends in other cities/areas of TX, tell me the exact same thing is going on in their neighborhoods, too.

The paltry amount of taxes these folks do/will pay is minuscule compared to the services they do/will receive.

12 million people in the Not pay federal income tax bracket. They’ll get refunds nonetheless, offsetting whatever little FICA or for that matter sales tax they do pay.

The reason we have this problem is twofold:

The 1965 Immigration Act (a Ted Kennedy bill), which changed the focus of our immigration from Europeans to Third World immigrants, and

Simpson-Mazzoli, the 1986 amnesty, which attempted to solve the problem of our “unmanageable” 3 million illegal immigrants (and promised border control that never happened.) Now we have four times as many illegals and we’re proposing essentially the same program as Simpson-Mazzoli.

Repeal these two bills, strengthen ICE and the Border Patrol, build the fence, increase the use of electronic border protection, make sure Congress gets to ratify the security of the border.

Mandate E-Verify, impose jail time for the employers of illegals, cut off ALL benefits. All.

We can discuss streamlining the procedures to come to the US legally — an incentive for illegal immigration (albeit likely a minor one.)

Then we’ll talk about what to do about those who are here and haven’t gone back home. But amnesty isn’t the answer.

I’m proud that so many people want to come to my country, that it remains a magnet. Welcome to America. Come legally.

Wouldn’t these fine folks be a benefit to the Mexican economy?

Most who work are on a payroll system.

Do you have a source for that assertion? And are you implying that illegal aliens are net contributors to the nation, i.e., benefits received versus costs incurred?

no, e verify does not always work)

E-verify is a voluntary program except in a few states like AZ. There are about 400,000 employers enrolled in the program with about 20 million vetted thru the program. It does not cover the majority of the workforce. It is not mandatory to use it.

I agree with everything you said. However, your post makes too much sense. It will never see the light of day by DC :(

This crapola sandwich is Simpson-Mazzoli on steroids. We know how that worked out. We're reaping the *benefits*, today.

Someone should write a bill to that effect. If nothing else, you have one dynamite issue for the campaign.

However, I doubt most are on welfare and I would never support any reform bill that didn’t address them being on welfare in the first place.

You couldn't be more wrong. Both legal immigrants and illegal aliens use welfare to a much greater extent than the native born.

Senator Paul seems determined to bring on additional Democrat voters. Even assuming the government's numbers are correct at 12 million illegals, that would mean that, assuming even a 33% voter participation rate, you would be adding 4 million voters, who would vote at least 4:1 Democrat. Those numbers could well push Arizona out of the marginally Republican camp, and move Florida into a marginally Democrat position on a statewide basis. It would move Texas, the last big state still solidly Republican, into a marginally Republican status. In the 2006 election cycle, the GOP held onto the state House by a mere few dozen votes in Irving, a Dallas suburb.

Other than Cubans in recent times and German, Dutch, and British Protestants in the 19th and early 20th Centuries, most immigrant groups have voted Democrat. Even legal immigrants and their children who prosper, such as Northeast Asians, vote Democrat even though the GOP is friendlier to professionals and entrepreneurs. The Republican leadership is delusional in supporting amnesty for illegals.

I don’t doubt it in Texas or California or Arizona. Border states have their own set of circumstances. If they come for benefits, they’ll settle down just over the border.

You’re being an asshole and looking for a fight that does not exist, but you are hell bent on making one.

Now, the basis for my assertion? 22 years in the contracting business, dealing with blue collar labor forces of my own, my vendors, my subs, my customers, my competitors, etc. - including many HR discussions at conventions, conferences, seminars, etc.

Wow, we are watching the suicide of a major political party in real time.

Unbelievable.

I can find a place for them also—go home, get to the back of the line and we’ll see if you have any skills we need before we let you back in.

You know, like the other 199 countries in the world do.

Just about all illegal aliens are leeching off our social services systems///// They are working too. They work and leech off the system at the same time which is a bit different from the black stereotype when it happens....They -blacks- do not work while they leach off the various welfare systems

The Romans had the same debate about blanket citizenship for the barbarians 2000 years ago. History is repeating itself.
