There is no question that the big winners from last week were George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, two men vilified for years by the left, the media, and Barack Obama as eager to use the War on Terror as an excuse to violate the Constitutional rights of everyday Americans. Obama ran for president as the anti-Bush in many respects, but especially on the issue of surveillance and snooping.

If you don’t think this sort of complete dossier building on an entire population will lead to what happens in totalitarian states you need to read more history books. Hitler’s SS only wishes they could have access to the resources in that Utah building. The Stasi would have expired from happiness with those resources.
As far as security intel goes. Ask yourself the real purpose behind the 1965 immigration act. These databases and analytics aren’t needed in a socially homogenous nation. What we have here is extortion. ‘give us your data or our buddies we imported for the task will blow up your kids’. That’s what we have now.
I fail to see the security purpose of the state keeping my six year olds DNA forever. A practice that started 10 or 15 years ago depending on the state you live in.

However, because I spent my childhood in Utah, it concerns me. Since I was married to a military man for 30+ years, and have two children and a grandson who have served, I resent any implication that I “had something to do” with the location and hiring practices of whoever set this in motion.

I’m disappointed with Mormons embrace of homosexuality and forsee their numbers doing just what the ECLA, Presbyterians (the liberal ones), Methodists (the liberal ones) and Lutherans (the liberal ones).
It’s a fait accompli once homosexuality is embraced.
No denomination has ever prospered having accepted that behavior.
The kids grow up wishy washy and ultimately non Christian.
IMHO just makes for fewer people that hold to Western cultural mores. And we all lose that way.
