Why the gov't source leaked PRISM
Politico ^ | 6/6/13 | DYLAN BYERS

The Washington Post has published a remarkable report showing that the National Security Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been monitoring the central servers of major Internet companies -- Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple -- and "extracting audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents and connection logs that enable analysts to track a person’s movements and contacts over time."

Why did a government source leak information of this program, dubbed "PRISM," to the Post? What follows is perhaps the most chilling paragraph I've read to date about U.S. government surveillance:

Firsthand experience with these systems, and horror at their capabilities, is what drove a career intelligence officer to provide PowerPoint slides about PRISM and supporting materials to The Washington Post in order to expose what he believes to be a gross intrusion on privacy. “They quite literally can watch your ideas form as you type,” the officer said.

In the wake of last night's Guardian report about the NSA's collection of Verizon phone user metadata, the New York Times editorial board argued that the Obama administration "has now lost all credibility" in defending its abuses of executive power. That was before the report about PRISM, which unlike the Verizon metadata, includes surveillance of user content.

This long chain of recent weekly “scandals” are a diversion from the real Presidency killer, the Benghazi debacle....

BINGO!

I am sure it is just a coincidence the White Hut Dumped 97 pages of Benghazi docs on Friday after 5pm this week.

“Grampa, that is what I am thinking. Steve Jobs refused to play their games, and he had deep enough pockets that they were afraid to mess with him.”

Also, probably a large % of IPhone/Pad and Mac owners are $ contributing liberal voters. Obozo didn’t want to get into a public dustup with Jobs before the Nov. election.

Some of us were wondering what would be in the Friday pm dumping of info demanded from the hut.

I’d much prefer taking back the United States, and bringing her back to what she was created to be. The libs have brought my beloved America to her knees, but I will never abandon her. If it takes my bones to fertilize her recovery and return, then that’s okay with me. (#15)

I speak of the idea of America. Its principles. Its traditions. Its ideals. Its vision. (#22)

The more disturbing thing was that they got enough information to send a dozen different campaign e-mail versions out at the same time, tailored to the recipients -based on the information collected with their 80 some cookies they loaded on the computers of site visitors. That’s worse than double-click.

It may be coincidental that the Democrats are using techniques that paralleled an NSA project. If not it may be the DNC was given access to a contractor who modified classified software to fit the requirements of the political campaign. Prior to last week I wouldn't have dreamt anything so bizarre. I never heard of data mining until the Anthony Shaffer/Able Danger controversy. They were using data mining prior to 9/11 to track terrorists. Their program incorporated classified data with open source data.

I think maybe another shoe will drop this coming week. Or maybe a whole shoe store.
