Something shocking happened on Saturday night during the uprisings against Erdogans AKP rule in Turkey. CNNs local news provider, called CNN-Turk, aired a documentary on penguins during the climax of the protests.
Turkish people have been suffering a lack of press freedom for a while; however, this has reached to a ridiculous point in the last few days. There is a phenomenal difference between how CNN international and CNN-Turk cover the protests and the Turkish people are furious, feel mocked and betrayed, and they rightfully demand CNN international to take action.
On Saturday night, people who turned on their televisions to watch the latest developments about the protests were shocked .The local news agency CNN-Turk, powered by CNN international, was airing a documentary about penguins, while the largest demonstration against the government ever to take place within the last decade in Turkey was literally in its peak moments. . The immediate response of the Turkish community was, naturally, a huge rage and taking this to social media outlets and publishing it. Since it is the only platform of information sharing during the protests.
Government-supported/censored coverage of the press in Turkey has reached a point completely out of control nowadays. As the protests get more heated the contrast sharpens. Welcome to the Tea Party, Turks.
Right now the Bruins own the Penguins.
This is about where the military would step in, but the AKP took preventative measures in neutralizing avowed Kemalists in the leadership.
They admitted to being the propaganda arm of Saddam Hussein's vile regime for some 8 years in Iraq. After that, it's surprising that anyone takes those clowns seriously.
In an astounding confession on Friday, CNNs top news executive admitted that the cable news network has been doing propaganda for Saddam Hussein for the past 12 years.
Eason Jordan, chief news executive of the cable network, wrote on the New York Times op-ed page on Friday that CNN for years has withheld important news about the Iraqi regime, ostensibly because reporting the truth would jeopardize CNNs Iraqi employees. It might also have gotten CNN kicked out of the country, too, and that apparently was a price CNN was not willing to pay. They chose to shill for Saddam rather than be shown the border.
Over the years, Jordan wrote, I became more distressed by what I saw and heard awful things that could not be reported because doing so would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff.

We swamped DC on Nov 12, 2009 - and scarcely a peep out of journalism.
