What conservatives need to realize is that if you have nothing of use to the marketplace (which is composed of your fellow humans), capitalism can be equally cruel in that you are totally ignored.
Capitalism is still the best system, but it is not perfect either.
Capitalism forces you to take responsibility for your welfare.
That is always harder than sitting on your rear end and letting someone take care of you.
With freedom comes responsibility.
That's why God invented "marriage" and "family." Because you can always clean house or mind children or do yard work for the more productive members and/or live with someone who cares for you when you are too old to work -- until the communist deconstruction began in 1973.
