everybody including companies charities and everybody pays 10%.

I think Corps. should be exempt as well as charities.

Corporations only collect taxes from their customers, they really don't pay taxes. Charities should be free to collect and giver freely, that's what they're supposed to be for.

JMHO.

Come onnn, we have to pay taxes and lots of it! How will terrorists survive if they can’t get their $100,000 in welfare benefits?

How can we expect the IRS employees to do a good job if they do not get their $100 MILLION in bonuses??

How can we expect illegals to pay for their health care or for their anchor babies if we can’t give them the $1.3 BILLION (just for one state) that they so deserve?

IRS says the Bronze Policy will cost a family of 4 $20,000 per year ~ which, BTW, is an amount well beyond the average income of college graduates of the last 5 years, half of whom are UNEMPLOYED ~ and otherwise not eligible for subsidized insurance.

That's a one-size-fits all result from IRS' think tank. Imagine what even a reduced IRS will come up with if everything has to be cut to fit one size.

So I guess my first question is how do you define what “someone earns?” Is it just wages? Does it include Soc Sec, dividend income, interest income, alimony, child support? If you are a sole prop, is it revenue or do you account for costs? Second question is how does allowing charitable deductions solve the issue of targeting tax exempt groups? Does not somebody still have to determine what a charity is?

The federal government's needs can be readily met through traditional levies on dependent states as well as export duties on every product where we are the world's low cost provider.

Foreigners should pay for the federal government.

How about this,

Repeal the 16th and 17th amendments

Require congress to present to the President a separate and stand alone tax assessment for each fiscal year within 30 days of the start of a fiscal year. All salaries of the Senate and the House will be held in escrow until the tax assessment reaches the President

In the tax assessment, Congress will be required to determine 3 things - 1) general taxes to be raised; 2) amount to be borrowed; 3) amounts of fees and charges for services rendered (postage fees, patent fees, import and export taxes etc). No other revenue may be raised. The Federal government shall not be able to spend beyond the amounts determine by passage of law. If no budget agreement is reached within 90 days of the new fiscal year. The President, Senators, and Representatives will all have their salaries held in escrow until a budget is passed. Until that time, the Federal government will operate under the previous approved budget.

The amount identified in the general taxes will be divided into a per seat cost in the following manner. One half of the general tax will be divided by 100 and each State will have added to it’s tax assessment the value times the number of Senate seats. Likewise, one half of the general tax will be divided by the number of representatives in congress and each state will be assessed the value times the number of Representative seats. Each state will then receive a bill for each seat in Congress (Representative Apportionment). The annual tax assessment will then be divided by 12 to determine the monthly payment for each state.

States which are not able to pay their monthly tax assessment within 90 days will lose the right to vote in any committee until their account is current. States which fall more than 120 days in arrears will lose the right to vote on the floor. States which fall more than 180 days in arrears will have their state Senators and Representatives salaries held in escrow until the State is current.

Replacing the income tax with another income tax is absurd.

We should switch over to consumption (sales) taxes.

The numerous advantages of such taxes are well known.

Nothing could ever be worse than income taxation.

There in lies the problem.....this is OUR government, not the politicians.

When will average Joe-six-pack get off his duff and protest (in a big way) the IRS.

It is up to us! We ultimately have the power. If it takes civil unrest...then so be it, but we need to take control back from these people up there in D.C.

We were all called conspiracy nutjobs for believing that our gubbamint was targeting us.....We've been validated, they were and likely perverted the results of an American election.

This is not just a news story. It is a constitutional crisis.

Exactly.

Those (and many other questions) are why I ceased to support the “flat tax” proposal and am now a fan of a national retail sales tax.

In order for the IRS to define “income” they need very long, intrusive snouts and definitions of what is “income.”

In a national retail sales tax, we already know what a retail sale is. Charge a tax at that point and send in the money.

It is criminal for citizens to be taxed on THEIR own income...purely criminal.

I donated $50 to the conservative senators’ website:

I hate the IRS. I think it’s an immoral institution.

The charity solution is (if we must have an income tax) to have all entities pay taxes on their profits.

As it happens, churches and other charities don’t turn profits, so they don’t need to pay taxes.

I completely agree, especially with the repealing the 16th. We have to get the Federal government off the backs of individuals and onto the backs of the states, where the founders envisioned it should be (i.e., check and balances).

I tried to the other day, but it kept crashing - hopefully because everyone was trying to sign up and leave a donation. I was able to sign the petition however. ;-)
