You do realize that GW Bush appointed her husband as head of the IRS? I don’t know if there are any remaining Bushbots on this site, but I’d like to know just why no one else was avaiable in the Republican Party or even an Independent for the IRS Commissioner’s job.

In the fwiw department, all governmental appointments end with the new administration coming into office. Plus, Shulman was a big donor to 0bama in 2008, and 2012.

Shulman was confirmed by the Senate in March 2008.

The liklihood is that a Republican or Independent wasn't nominated because the Democrat Senate let it be known they wanted a Democrat in the post.

Doesn't absolve Bush, but he became very compliant with Democrat wishes after the 2006 election. The fight was all gone out of him...

On The Five Dana Perino addressed the issue of Shulman
being appointed by Bush. I don’t recall exactly what
she said but it was something like the Dems were making
a big stink about not approving anyone that Bush wanted
so since it was that late in his second term he went
along with their choice because the Director of the IRS
is not a political position.

Dana perino explained exactly WHY Bush appointed Shulman.....the Dems told him NOT to send over any Republican, so he said "OK, how abiout this guy"/....even though he gave Obama $500.00.

THIS is going to turn out to be one of Bush's BEST decisions!!! The IRS CRIMINALS are going DOWN!!!!
