Jean Stapleton, who played Archie Bunkers long-suffering wife Edith in the long-running 1970s television series All in the Family, died Friday at her New York City home. She was 90.

And you have an unsubtle way of smearing anyone who disagrees with you on aesthetic matters.
Holy cow a poise!
And he also cheated on Gloria. So he lived off her parents like a leech, then cheated on their daughter. Mike Meathead or whatever his name was was probably one of my least favorite characters ever.
The efforts and resulting effect of years of work by Norman Lear and All in the Family to advance liberalism and destroy conservative during those all important years of the culture wars, is not an issue of “aesthetic”s.
You also seem to want to promote liberal politics among the conservative here, by pretending that there are no left wing politics in the arts, even in Hollywood, although on this very thread you first tried to say the “politics” didn’t show up until later, and then tried to claim that the “politics” were actually conservative, now you want to go with there are no “politics”.
You can find a world view, ‘politics’, in everything. I choose not to become absorbed by it and let it dominate every aspect of my life. Life’s too short. Politics is for the voting booth.
And of course there are left wing politics in the Arts. That’s just stating the obvious.
At best, you described your simple minded ignorance and inability to see much of anything at all, when you can't see the politics in the very area that you seem obsessed with, Hollywood entertainment, then I think you leave many heads here nodding in amazement at wondering what you can see.
I don't know what your interest in freerepublic is, your politics seem liberal, all your arguments seem to be in support of the left, and now you claim that you aren't interested in politics at all, until the day you vote.
Of what interest could a site of conservative activists and political people be to you?
Do you seriously think that anyone who liked AITF can’t be conservative? Look at this thread. You remind me of people who go on the annual Oscars threads here and scold people for having any interest in the Oscars or movies in general. I’m conservative right down the line.
Trivia: Norman Lear initially offered the part of Archie to Mickey Rooney who turned it down because he found the concept anti-American.
That was all made up, a straw dog since I haven’t and aren’t saying that, what a creation.

I don’t know why you posted the same comment twice but I answered above. I’m not pushing any Left wing philosophy. ‘All in The Family’ was funny and most people here agree. That’s all there is to this. I’m here because I’m interested in the continued eminence and staunch defense of Western civilization.
You say that this late in the thread, yet on every thread you fight against that very idea, intensely.

Now you are going with the "politics" are obvious.
You just flow all around the place with no center, no real awareness, just fluid mush.
Now you’re just talking circles and misrepresenting what I said. I never said that AITF was conservative. I said it’s not relevant to the discussion. Nor did I say there are no politics in the Arts. Only that shouldn’t dominate the discussion unless that’s all there is - which isn’t the case with AITF.
Actually you have a few posts here trying to imply that AIF was conservative, for instance by making meathead look bad, and also reflecting every other conflicting view and/or position that I said that you have posted.
Your reaction to this freerepublic thread is ridiculous, only you can see a thread involving Norman Lear’s great liberal success, All in the Family, and jump on it to squelch any idea or mention, or discussion that it was liberal.
What is your interest in this conservative site if you don’t seem at all conservative yourself, or to even know what we are talking about? You don’t seem at all aware of politics, or the culture war, or the ways the left uses TV and movies to reshape America and plant their politics into the culture and our homes, why are you here?
More misrepresentations. You’re lying now and I done with this discussion.
ansel12, you know the truth. Political/Emotional cueing has been the forefront of all media; particuarly, since the beginning of modern print and aired media. It is subtle by increment and has devastated our culture, over the last 50 yrs. The mild push did get a good jump with All in the Familiy. What has followed since, is nothing short of breathtaking. Thank you for pointing out the obvious.
When did entertainment vehicle products become “art”? I took a long shower and must of missed the memo!
I remember seeing this at the Smithsonian for my senior class trip:-)
Since the Elizabethans? :)
Don’t lie and pretend that I have told a lie anywhere at FR.
Here is a list of your posts of you trying to portray All in the Family as non-liberal, and even leaning right, the list could be longer, but this will do.
