What an idiotic statement. In 2012 natural disasters cost this nation over 160 billion dollars and claimed tens of thousands of lives globally. The single most important thing a person can do to protect lives and property is to BE PREPARED. Warning people of impending or potential danger isn’t hysteria or hype, it is fundamental to disaster preparation.

If the media cries wolf too often, they will be ignored. Hyping storms to get ratings and viewers ultimately increases the risk of people not paying attention when they need to. I will admit that it is a fine line.

A side note.
We now have storm chaser Facebook groupies now. While the photos and videos they provide are fascinating, the groupies are flocking to the storm chasers thinking that they have superior knowledge over the NWS and meteorologists.

I don’t think there’s a whole lot you can do to protect your property from a tornado. What sort of idiot are you? Be sure to stay glued to your TV weather channel so they can protect you.

19 dead. Biggest tornado ever recorded IN THE WORLD.

Don’t think it was overhyped.
