Sad to say but I am afraid it won’t happen without some catastrophic event (economic collapse with class in fighting or an all our armed revolution).

Well said and in-fighting likely, in my opinion. I'm glad that you brought that up.

Many middle class folks with direct and indirect government incomes (indirect, re. services dependent on customers with government incomes) have spoken their imaginations about wave attacks against suburbs by huge numbers of food stamp recipients ("zombies") despite our agricultural resources and the histories of previous economic collapses. The following is much more of a likelihood.

Many middle class subgroups (mostly socialists, though very few see themselves that way) are already looking for their next targets to get fees, fines, taxes and other "revenues" from or to de-fund in budget considerations, and other subgroups with government incomes or incomes otherwise dependent on debt/revenues are those targets. They are the most likely "zombies," in a sense--each political faction gives other factions the evil eye in political speeches behind the scenes with hopes of pulling funding from other groups to its own members.

They won't get it from the rich (lack of production, inflation, debt pileup continues to be a mounting problem) or the poor (nothing to take, the whole food stamp budget being only about one-tenth of the yearly deficit), and production of real wealth (manufacturing, etc.) is shutting down, little by little. One group of middle class folks will go after another. They already are, just a little bit.

As the debt decline continues, they'll do as the Greeks have recently done or worse. ...probably worse, from the looks of political speech and hysterical legislative gestures here and there.
