All weather is local. While it snowed in New York, it was warm here in Northern California. Last year on Memorial Day Weekend, however, we got snow.
I've also watched ski jumpers on July 4th one year. They crushed stored lake ice, mix with hay, and lay a path down a hill.
It may have been opposite the shaky remains of the wooden ski jump from the 1932 Olympics (which was torn down for the 1980 games).

East Sacramento was lukewarm at best and is cold today.

That’s just not true.
All through the sierra temps were 15 to 20 degrees below normal all weekend. Friday morning we woke up to 34 degrees.
