There are some legalistic fundamentalists around here who would never pass muster on the standards they hold others to. Their reaction to the scouts would only be appropriate if you believe that all scouts are happily prancing into the darkness of homosexuality and gleeful that they have found an excuse to do so. When in reality, it is a painful and excruciating decision that was obvioulsy a sad capitulation to a tide they didn't think they could fight - and is obviously done with many many scouts and leaders not in agreement.
Absolutely true on all fronts. I’ve devoted ten years of leadership and my two sons are at the cusp of reaching the pinnacle. Two years ago, I had the honor of being able to start a new troop and we’ve introduced 18 boys to the fun. I’m not ready to give that up just yet. OTOH, I’m also on the periphery of a group of Godly men who are creating the framework of a new group to continue the legacy that BSA has given up on.
I also hope that BSA will see what they have wrought and take the difficult step of reversal and standing again for righteousness.
