Documents: Lois Lerner Was Directly Involved in Targeting Program
town Hall ^ | May 24, 2013 | Guy Benson

Not to fear, America -- she's been placed on "administrative leave," a terribly severe form of discipline that's effectively tantamount to paid vacation. At this week's House Oversight Committee hearing, Lerner (sort of) invoked her fifth amendment rights and refused to answer any questions. She claimed she's done "nothing wrong," which explains why she's reportedly refusing to resign. Question, though: Might Lerner be a relatively innocent patsy in all of this (a la the Benghazi scapegoat)? Er, probably not, via National Review:

A series of letters suggests that senior IRS official Lois Lerner was directly involved in the agency’s targeting of conservative groups as recently as April 2012, more than nine months after she first learned of the activity. Lerner, the director of the IRS exempt organizations office in Washington, D.C., signed cover letters to 15 conservative organizations currently represented by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) between in March and April of 2012. The letters, such as this one sent to the Ohio Liberty Council on March 16, 2012, informed the groups applying for tax-exempt status that the IRS was “unable to make a final determination on your exempt status without additional information,” and included a list of detailed questions of the kind that a Treasury inspector general’s audit found to be inappropriate. Some of the groups to which Lerner sent letters are still awaiting approval. Lerner has denied involvement in the targeting, which she has blamed on a few “front-line people” in the agency’s Cincinnati field office.

The timing of her letters coincide with the appearance of former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman before Congress in March 2012 who testified that no such targeting scheme existed. It appears Lerner did nothing to stop the abusive conduct.

Issa knew the report was due before the elections but NEVER followed up with a phone call
to find out why the delay in releasing the report. So, don’t blame it all on
the IG. After all Issa is the Chairman of the Committee that has oversight
of the IRS. It is his JOB to know. Maybe the Rino’s didn’t want this out
before the elections too.

All of these scandals, i.e. Fast and Furious, Benghazigate, APgate,
IRSgate surely MUST be some sort of Right-Wing conspiracy!

I think she is going to go down over this. She does not come across as sympathetic at all - in fact, she seems to be a bitch. Obama will be needing some new fodder for the bus and I’m going to predict she will have tire-tracks down her backside within a few weeks.

Then of course they can proclaim victory and get back to “the peeples bidness”

Did the IG know, also, when the report was due? And, if so, why didn't he submit it?

I didn’t read the end of the book as it’s not finished yet; I have to wait and see. Jay Sekulow, ACLJ Chief Counsel, the American Center for Law and Justice is working towards a good ending for it.

Of course the IG knew when the report was due and so did Issa.
Issa says the IG did not meet his statutory obligation, which is true.
But how does that relieve Issa from making a follow up call to determine
why the report had not been released. It’s not like Issa is just some
Congressman. He is the Chairman of the Committee that has oversight
Over the IRS. Would you not have followed up? I know I would have.

Obama will just “promote” her to another job outside of the IRS just like
he has done with Susan Rice and Victoria Nuland.

They can all GTH

IMO, 'can' is 'will' - because there is no blatant corruption and robbery of god-given rights in heaven.

They chose their fate and 'I'm saddened by it'.

I can't get the smuck shulman's 'arrogant avoidance of answering' words out of my mind. It is his way of 'pleading the 5th'. The lying coward goes from 'absolutely not' until the dirty deed is done - then it's 'I'm saddened'.

Only a Dem could do all this and still go before Congress and say "I did nothing wrong!". Well, in their own mind, of course, they did do "nothing wrong", as in attacking conservatives anywhere and everywhere is the correct thing to do!

Still, the brazenness and in-your-face attitude to Congress by making a "I did nothing wrong" opening statement only to plead the 5A immediately following is just what only a Dem thinks they can get away with. Look at the "news" media. What are they saying about this..... *chirping crickets*.

If a Repub tried this, the "news" media would be quoting any and all attorneys they could find on how you can't claim you did nothing wrong and then plead the 5A. Then the "news" media would Joe-the-plumber him/her and hound them from office.

And Holder testifying he knew nothing of the Rosen case but he signed the order to get a warrant to search Rosen's records, etc? If Holder was a Repub, the "news" media would be forcing him to resign by end of the day.

I didn't say it relieved Issa because I don't know if he did or did not make a follow up call. Do you know? You appear to have knowledge that I don't have.

187? letters where sent and I believe someone said they got or only remember '2' - so it would appear IGNORING what is asked for - was common place in all of this.
