Taxes/burdens of the Navigation Acts at the time of the Revolution were $.41 per person (1770) out of an annual income of about $740 per person. Hardly the cause of the Revolution. What irritated the colonists was HOW the taxes were constantly put in place without any say-so on the part of the Americans.
