If this person thinks that this sort of thinking is only happening in Germany then they are indeed fooling themselves. You only have to look at lefty conspiracy theory websites - follow the links and soon enough you will find that they are directly or indirectly involved in blaming the Jews for almost everything!
Wow, I didn’t realize it was that bad. When I was in Germany, I don’t remember anyone mentioning Jews. Apparently, maybe because I am a gentile. I think I will read this book.
Wow...what really got me was when the editor demanded that “Jews” be changed to “Israel”.
The anti-semites (such as Occupy Wall Street) hide their hatred of Jews by screaming at Israel...and then say their only problem is with the policies of that state. The above demand shows that their problem is MUCH, MUCH, deeper, and much, much uglier.
An Asian-American friend went to study in rural Germany, pretty much unaware of the undercurrents. Within a week my innocent academic nerdy friend was being openly harassed every time she went into town with brutal anti-Chinese slurs and some physical contact during the outbursts.
I tried to explain to her that the Wermacht troops that slaughtered my grandfather’s Polish hometown were from the region of Germany she was living in, and the area never really reformed.
Let the Germans and the German Turks fight it out.
The problem is, we are sleeping stateside.

Sadly, it is true. Germanic Europe is anti-Semitic. I lived and worked there for a decade and it is verrry hard to be Jewish there.
The synagogues, except for the few original antique ones, are so hidden I missed a wedding once.
