'Fraid you're right. They want to 'own' the BSA trophy, but what they really want is the boys -- unhindered, untrammeled access to the boys.
Do you realize these bastards have just put all the fathers in America up against a wall? By removing their only significant loss in American legal history (James Dale, 2000), and having expunged every conviction for sodomy in American legal history with the Lawrence decision in 2003, they've now made it illegal to oppose homosexuality for any reason whatsoever, including the moral health of the boy and the paternal rights of the father to protect his son from sexual predation.
well, certainly you are correct about some of the proponents of this change.
having a “gay” oriented boy in a scout troup is fine with me, what is not fine with me is making “gay” BEHAVIOR officially approved in the Scouts.
the distinction is important (to my little way of thinking anyway). The official organizational policies should uphold moral standards so that all the other boys learn them. This is a big part of growing up to be a man in society. Besides, as I remember things ... there’s probably enough “playing around” in scout tents anyway.. without officially sanctioning it and teaching that it can or even should be continued as a “perfectly normal lifestyle” -— Allowing that a small number of “gay” boys will adopt a “gay” lifestyle for the remainder of their lives, ok, I just don’t think it is at all good for them to “learn” in scouts that this is fine and dandy and Ok and perfectly wonderful...or whatever.
just my thoughts. Far better to look around and find, or organize if need be, a scout-type group for the boys that does endeavor to uphold moral standards. And if a “gay” kid want to join, fine... just tell him he’s very welcome but “gay” scouting behavior in the tent or swim pool or wherever...is not approved to be part of his scouting education and experience, is all.
