More open about it... accepting?
People have been immoral for centuries.
However, in the U.S.A. from 50 years ago and further back, were the vast majority having premarital sex? (Was it the norm or the exception?) Even if a majority did so, are you saying that the people that were found out to have engaged in premarital sex were not looked down upon back then by society in general?
That certainly isn't so now.
They HAD to get married because society frowned upon the behavior, it was seen as the moral thing to do.
The only reason it is more open now is because people are more accepting of the behavior. Which supports my case.
Your point is as far as Florida law goes, it was illegal.
It would not, for example, be illegal here in Virginia: here, the law talks difference in age for those under 18.
And a reductio-ad-absurdium example:
Let’s a notional couple. Call them B and G. Assume Florida Law. . .
B and G are having sex. It’s 11:59 at night. B is 17, G is 16. B’s birthday is tomorrow. How does what is legal at 11:59:59 illegal after the stroke of midnight ??
