Youre the one pitching a particular religious view and code of conduct. . .
Let me put it very simply.
Yes I am pitching a particular code of conduct, but I'm not advocating that laws be written to enforce my religious views on anyone.
The law on the books regarding sexual activity with minors has been broken in this case, and your posts seem to defend the actions of the 18 year old in breaking the law.
Another point I made is that society as a whole has degraded to the point where sex outside of marriage and even sex with minors has become acceptable in the viewpoint of many people, instead of frowned upon by society when discovered. So things are not the same as your great grandmother's time.
Actually, you’re incorrect THERE too. We’re just more open about it now, AND not forcing marriage.
As someone else mentioned, the term “shotgun wedding” existed LONG before the 1950s.
And things are not all that different from my great-grandmother’s day: you could ask my other great-grandparents about that, if they were still around. They HAD to get married, and so did most of their friends.
You might ALSO want to note the old habit, long since dead, of people counting the months from a wedding until the first child was born. . . there’s an old maxim about children taking nine months, except the first one. . .
