A lot of everyone’s grandparents here marry under the age of 15 and had that marriages lasted. Not that I believe in marrying at 13 or 15 for that matter, but if that 18 year old girl was 17 years 11 months and 29 days this wouldn’t be a story. Common sense is not being applied to our laws. Pointing a finger in the shape of gun now gets 8 years arrested and psychiatric treatment.”

You do know that marriages of those under age 18 required the consent of the parents, right?

In this case, the sex act generated a request by the parents of the 14-year-old girl to prosecute the offender. It hardly seems likely that the parents would have granted consent to a marriage.

Therefore, the parallel does not apply.

There is a vast difference between marriage - to a member of the opposite sex - and illicit homoesxual acts.

But you’re probably right.
