Curious how much Apple donated? Or Google? Yet Exxon is still treated like the bad guy.

Awesome that Exxon is lending a helping hand.

Sad they chose the Red Cross, they could have spread it around to some of the low overhead, high track record charities, Salvation Army, etc., but perhaps it’s vogue not to appear too Christian with CHARITY these days, Corinthians not withstanding.

Better than government “help” any day of the week.

I hope more people remember to send donations to the Salvation Army. They are always in disaster areas with help - but most everyone donates to the Red Cross.

Me, I’d rather go to the individuals and give them money. Or a construction company to start cleaning out and rebuilding - even one home. But there is no write off for companies if they do it the better way.

No slam on Exxon but 50M is nothing but merely a show - how much goes to the Red Cross itself and what’s left for the citizens with no place to go. NY still isn’t finished from Sandy’s devastation. Organizations come with ‘immediate help’ make a show and go and citizens are still in the same predicament with no place to live - and work in some instances.

Samaritan’s Purse is the way to go! They will make 50M into 100M with their highly trained volunteers and Samaritan’s own equipment.
