Ok, I’ll try again. Some Romeo and Juliet laws are written so that the actual birthday doesn’t matter. What matters is the difference in actual age. It doesn’t matter if you turn eighteen on Jan 1st, for instance, what matters is the actual age difference...generally three or four years.
So, one person is always going to be “X” older than the other. Whether that’s today, tomorrow, or the day the oldest turns eighteen. IF the relationship is within that window of years, it stays legal when the oldest turns eighteen. If the difference in the ages in not within that window, the relationship IS NEVER LEGAL. This makes a lot more sense, and kids in high school should be made well aware of the law.
So it would be okay for, say, a 16 year old boy to molest a boy only one or two years young then he. Or a 16 year old girl to molest a girl 14, or a boy/girl combo. BTW much molestation begins with grooming, making friends, gaining trust, and then making the moves. Whatever the age of the predator.
