Good article. However, save your money on the Red Yeast. I've been told by my doctor that the companies were forced recently to strip the statin-like compounds from the product before they can sell it. Want to guess who pressured FDA for this action? Here's some good reading about heart disease, cholesterol and the OTC supplements you should take.

Niacin is excellent for raising HDL and lowering LDL, but it needs to be in the correct form: nicotinic acid. That's the stuff that causes the flushing effect when you first take it.
