Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said that he feared the Internal Revenue Service scandal over political targeting of Tea Party groups would unfairly stigmatize other workers at the agency.
The biggest problem is that tens of thousands of IRS workers that work hard with all of this stigma being tax collectors, are getting a bad shake out of this, said Rangel during a panel discussion on ABCs This Week.
The IRS acknowledgement that agents used higher scrutiny against conservative groups seeking tax exempt status has already claimed the job of acting director Steven Miller and has the White House and Congress both vowing thorough investigations.
Rangel said the problem lay with the law governing tax-exempt status, which he said was prone to abuse.

Whether they should have used this buzz words for conservatives or liberal, it is wrong and outrageous when people are penalized for their political beliefs, he added.
But the law has been abused ever since it's been there.

Jerks? They are much more than that. Rigging an election is criminal.
Cry me a river. They could have spoken up. Compliant to the crooked zeitgeist makes one crooked, not honest. They had a duty to speak up. Same with cops. Crooked cops should be outed by their own, not protected. Protecting, or even ignoring, bad apples in the organization ruins the whole organization.
Were there honest SS agents too?
Every employee of the IRS deserves a bad shake over this - now and forever. Let them feel the scorn of their productive neighbors. Let them know the fear they have brought to others who are just trying to live their lives without interference. Let them understand that it is not acceptable to draw a salary from such an organization and then claim they were just doing their jobs when it engages in tyrannical practices.
The political son of Adam Clayton Powell worries about the IRS. Only conceived in Hollywood or the New York Times.
My personal dealings with IRS at the individual level have always been very cordial. So, Rangel has a minor point. However, the IRS must be destroyed in favor of a system that doesn’t invite such abuse. It’s systemic.
[[Rangel worries honest IRS agents are now getting a bad shake]]
But of course he’s NOT worried abotu hte damage the CORRUPT IRS agents caused and the terror they instilled in INNOCENT citzens lives-
Odd Charlie doesn’t give a rip about congressmen’s reputation when they have a tax cheat among them. Guess he isn’t too worried about a lying communist in the Presidents office giving others a bad rap. Me thinks Charlie has been in office too long and needs to either come up for air or quit!
Is there such a thing? Or we’re just following orders
Honest????????????.No such animal at that agency.
We have neighbors that are IRS agents: We have not spoken to them and I shall never speak to them again!
