The House will vote on H.R. 45 this Thursday to fully repeal the presidents health care law, which is driving up costs, jeopardizing seniors access to care, and making it harder for small businesses to hire. While our goal is to repeal all of ObamaCare and this will be the third time the Republican-led House has voted for full repeal since 2011 weve already succeeded in repealing and defunding parts of it. Heres a look at how seven bills* signed by President Obama helped dismantle provisions of his health care law to protect our economy and save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars:
H.R. 4: Repealed the small business paperwork (1099) mandate: The paperwork mandate was called one of Washingtons dumbest ideas it would have destroyed jobs and hit start-ups hardest, not to mention farms, charities and churches. House Republicans kept their Pledge to America and repealed it. H.R. 4 also reduced exchange subsidy overpayments by $25 billion.
H.R. 1473: Cut $2.2 billion from a stealth public plan and froze the IRS budget: H.R. 1473 undermined ObamaCare by cutting $2.2 billion from the Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) program a stealth public plan. It saved $400 million by eliminating Free Choice Vouchers, which The Hill warned could lead young, healthy workers to opt out of their employer plans, driving up costs for everybody else. And it ensured the IRS wouldnt receive additional funding for new agents to enforce the presidents health care law.
H.R. 674: Saved taxpayers $13 billion by adjusting eligibility for ObamaCare programs: This bill not only repealed a devastating IRS withholding tax it saved taxpayers $13 billion by changing how the eligibility for certain programs is calculated under ObamaCare...

Uh, how ‘bout repealing the whole lousy bill?
Didn’t they tell him you have to sign the bill so you can see what’s in it?
No, no, no. What an idiot. Full repeal or nothing. Let the Democrats live with the results of their nightmare. Don’t let them off the hook. What a sellout.
This is not about REPEALING OBAMACARE, it’s about perfecting it and making it more palatable to the US populace. It’s about getting rid of some of its flaws.
REPEAL all or none of it. Let the Democrats choke on their Frankenstein monster including ALL of its monstrous pieces!
Hey, it’s a start, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
Funny thing about signing bills they don’t read,...it works both ways.
Getting even this out of a timid Congress is a medium grade miracle. The Democrats want to keep a fig leaf, which is about all that will be left of Obamacare.
Freepers who don't read articles before they make posts that make it painfully evident that they didn't read the article are the absolutely stupidest posters on the planet.
Do we all agree?
FReegards!
It is a basic rule of lobbying that you don’t fashion the bullet that is then used to kill you. If the other side passes a bad law, you don’t do anything to help them out. You let them feel the public wrath until they cave.
One bad law here (land use restrictions) took us almost a decade to repeal, but after the municipality had been hit with judgments of about $5 million total imposed by multiple courts who held their application of the law violated civil rights, they finally agreed to repeal it because they couldn’t afford the fines and penalties any more.
When we won our first victory in court and the municipality’s lawyer indicated they were willing to “work with us” to amend the law to make it “more tolerable,” we said screw you, if you don’t do a total repeal we’ll see you in court again (and again).
I’m still working on collecting the last $95,000 penalty. Usually when I start liening the municipality’s properties, that has results.

“...From the full article: “Are these enough? Of course not full repeal is needed to keep this law from doing more damage to our economy and jacking up costs on Americans.””

Actually the stupidest posters on the planet are those who actually believe someone who says things like “full repeal is needed” and then takes absolutely ZERO steps to do so.
And not take only ZERO steps to advance full repeal but pass some laws that will remove some of the incentives that would motivate some “fence sitting” legislators to actually vote for full repeal.
You didn't read the article.
The House will vote on H.R. 45 this Thursday to fully repeal the presidents health care law
In fact it is quite obvious that you didn't even read the first line of the article.
Busted.
I’m not trying to get into a “bickering” contest with you. This verbiage (”...and this will be the third time the Republican-led House has voted for full repeal since 2011...) was in the article also. The point I was trying to make was that the full repeal vote this week and the previous full repeal votes were “window dressing” that the House GOP leadership knew were NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Those votes were basically so they could say “...see, we’re trying to fully repeal ObamaCare” while they actually vote for and get Obama’s signature on legislation that makes an actual complete repeal of ObamaCare less often.
You took the initial shot at your fellow FReepers who think these partial measures were counterproductive, I’ll let you take your last shot at me and I will not be responding to it.
“Hey, its a start, dont look a gift horse in the mouth.”
People don’t pay attention. The house is defunding obumacare piece by piece. That’s why Sebelius, head of HHS, is out there panhandling for money to implement this mess. The house took away the money, but some people are too dense to understand this strategy that kills a government program.
Senator Lamar Alexander was on Greta last night.
He said this private solicitation is actually illegal. You can’t end run around Congress.
He said this is what happened during Iran/Contra.
This is not about REPEALING OBAMACARE....
Case closed.
“... The house is defunding obumacare piece by piece....”

Anything that the House passes to defund all or any part of Obamacare is good. But they should be careful about passing legislation that MAKES IT LESS OBJECTIONABLE and more palatable to the American people. The more “warts” they remove, the less likely the political will can be aroused to vote in Representatives and Senators who will support the entirety of Obamacare being repealed.
I’m fairly certain that the GOPe is not really interested in ACTUALLY eliminating Obamacare. The John Boehner bit of propaganda this thread links to is meant to mislead IMHO. And, IMHO, it is succeeding with some.
I appreciate your view, but I see it differently.
It’s my understanding that the house is coordinating its actions with states controlled by Republicans. Here’s how it works:
States are refusing to implement obamacare. That means that the federal government must set up exchanges in the states using federal money. The House is refusing to approve money for that. In addition, the House is defunding obamacare by refusing to provide money for organizing obamacare.
With the states and republican house refusing to kick in money, we are creating the perfect storm that will sink obamacare. It’s not as sexy as voting to repeal obamacare in whole, but this strategy will have the same effect.
Of course, I could be wrong and am interested in hearing your reply.
