Steven Miller is breaking his silence about the scandal thats engulfing the Internal Revenue Service. Miller, the acting IRS commissioner, is quickly emerging as the focus of fury in Washington after an agency official acknowledged last week that conservative groups seeking nonprofit status were targeted for extra screening if their applications included words such as tea party or patriot.
In an op-ed published Tuesday in USA Today, he said the agency was simply trying to manage the explosive growth in applications for 501(c)(4) status that started pouring in to the IRS in 2010. "The Internal Revenue Service recognizes that we should have done a better job of handling the influx of applications by advocacy groups," Miller wrote. He denied that politics played a role in the targeting practice. Mistakes were made, but they were in no way due to any political or partisan motivation, he wrote. We are and will continue to be dedicated to reviewing all applications for tax-exempt status in an impartial manner. Miller blamed the mistakes on a "shortcut" the agency used to centralize the thousands of applications for tax-exempt status the agency received in the run-up to the 2012 election.

When i read the title i thought, “ okay, typical passive voice.” In the paragraph where he talks about shortcuts, he does say, “ ...mistakes we made...”
"My job requirement was to roll out the IRS portion of Obamacare at the same time.
So, yes sir, I know my ass is grass."
“I would apologize to the Post, and I would apologize to Mr. Woodward and Mr. Bernstein.” He continued, “We would all have to say that mistakes were made in terms of comments. I was overenthusiastic in my comments about the Post, particularly if you look at them in the context of developments that have taken place.” May 1, 1973; the previous day, White House counsel John Dean and Nixon aides John Ehrlichman and H.R. Haldeman had resigned, as the Watergate scandal progressed.[7]

Abolish the IRS.
They have entirely too much INFORMATION.
Note that I did NOT say power.
Yeah, and lies were told, and you were one of the perps telling them.
The mistake that was made was getting caught.
Mistakes?
Steve Miller, Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’.
Crimes, not mistakes! And drop the passive voice; name the culprits.
did they go after any OWS groups? It seems to be another explosive growth was happening then. does anyone know of any organization under OWS banner that applied? This would certainly dismiss the nonpartisan issue.
follow the questionnaire - who developed it and when. I understand it was task force in WASHINGTON. Who was on the task force?
I suggest the committees ask for email that include any mention of the questionnaire (not just tea party and patriot).
By”Mistakes Were Made” Mr. Miller do you mean that YOU GOT CAUGHT??????????????????????????????????
Passive voice almost always equals an admission of culpability.
Mistakes were NOT made!
Crimes were committed!
Will Sutton: Sure, I made mistakes, at least one. It wasn't a mistake to rob banks since that was where the money was. My only real mistake was getting caught.
Nixon aide Ziegler finally had to own up in April of 1973, when President Nixons top aides, Bob Haldeman and John Ehrlichman, resigned in disgrace.
Mistakes were made, Ziegler said of his previous denials, adopting a phrase that has since been used by other government spokesmen trying to defuse other government scandals.
