I wasn't so much thinking of the AC-130, as much as I was thinking of a fighter jet (with wing fuel tanks) capable of being there in 1 1/2 hours, but needing refueling in less than 2 hours.
I also figure a refueling tanker, either as KC-120, KC-135, or maybe even a F/A-18F tanker from an aircraft carrier could be scrambled and do the refueling,
but their speed is a little slower than the fighter, so that's why I said 2 hours maximum.
Of course a C-130 could do the refueling, but that might be a speed problem for the fighter.
The AC-130 wouldn't have a fuel burn problem, as it can carry all the fuel it needs for a long mission.

I was thinking of the C-130 I understood the Libyans had ready to depart for Benghazi. I leave the refueling details to you since you obviously have experience and expertise in this area.

Is there not a carrier in the Med? Didn’t we use to have one there all the time?
