With a sport that has positions like, "wide end receiver" and "tight end", and terms like "going deep", its just begging to have gays in it.
I heard that during the winter meetings the owners even discussed changing the name of the Tight End position to "Loose End". Wide receiver was determined tio be fine.

NFL teams don't like distractions. There are 31 General Managers and 31 Head Coaches who pray ever night before bed that the first football player that "comes out" isn't on their team. I can't speak for the Jets ... they love drama.
