Don’t know much about history, do you. The government was involved with football (and in particular player safety) well over 100 years ago.

Yes, God forbid pro football become any less brutal while still retaining the basic game! Have to have those bone crunching plays for the public!
And no, I don’t believe it is the governments job to make football safer, it is the NFL that should be decent enough to do it.
