It's not plausible that it is so simple that a person who hates the United States was elected by a moronic US electorate. The obvious real situation is that Obama had bigtime backing and the leadership of both parties is seriously controlled by this bigtime backing.

This backing is where the real story is; the personas of the politicians can be created and destroyed at the will of the backers. The politicians are eminently replaceable. They are simply the public image for the masses to either love or hate.
