They weren't fools; they wanted this. The more strife there is, the more disputes government must settle. That takes more police, more lawyers, psychologists, more parole officers, more welfare bureaucrats... more Democrats wielding more power.

Leftists and progressives who spew that mantra are exhibiting one hallmark of the liberal mind. It's called Magic Thinking. It is a huge leap away from rational thinking, from assimilating facts to reach logical conclusions. Magic thinking is also a hallmark of the jugle mind which sees spirits in animals and trees, which illustrates its body for totem power, and which slaughters an 'other' to acquire that ones soul power.
As illustration I give you Tom Harkin screaming 'stand up for Paul' at Paul Wellstone's funeral assemblage. Harkin sought to invoke the spirit of Paul, for exploitation among fellow magic thinkers. Tom Harkin is a classic modern day Maagic Thinker. The democrip party is rife with them and the little bastard boy running the country is a prime example, too.
