ok, they are very cool jets...but, if they lose their ONLY engine, they’ll drop from the sky. A BUFF on the other hand, can lose and engine and still kick A$$! Same goes for any other multi engine military plane.
yeah, I know, jets are way faster and cooler, but BUFFs get it done and their shadow and their noise casts a scary power.

I’m also old SAC. I loved the way the BUFF’s took off. When I was leaving the AF, the B1’s were starting to arrive.

They glide rather gracefully.
I saw two squadrons of F16s on the runway, take off in sets of four and then do a mock air base attack on my base.
Sure beat the buff flying over at 35,000 feet.

A zoomie in an F-4 is flying along with a BUFF. The zoomie of course has to show off, and then says to the BUFF pilot “You can’t do anything like that!”. The BUFF pilot responds “Yeah, but can you do this?” The BUFF keeps flying at the same speed, altitude, and direction.
Zoomie: “Do what?”
BUFF pilot: “Shut off two engines.”
