CBSs Lesley Stahl made a comment Sunday that in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing might give many Americans chills.
During a discussion about that horrific event on the syndicated Chris Matthews Show, Stahl said, We're all going to end up wearing burqas (video follows with transcript and commentary):

“After all, if there ever comes a day when people in America need to conceal their identities, most likely won’t opt for burqas.”
WRONG!!! Covering one’s face in public is generally illegal, EXCEPT for burquas - since Islam is a ‘protected’ religion. In fact, they are GREAT for providing cover for bombers and others.
Eventually we, like France, may get to the point of outlawing them in public...but we are far from doing that.
With burkas it would have been impossible to identify the bombers so quickly.
Hollywood will never be the same. Noting she didn’t bring up the liberal topics of unlimited birth control (slutdom) or gay rights. Hasn’t she helped to champion both via her politics?
So true GlA. Add to your list socialists, progressives, totalitarians, criminals, con-men, child molesters, rapists, collectivists, feminists, eugenicists, useful idiots, low-information voters, scumbags, liars, thieves, junkies, one-thought libertarians, etc., etc., and any other philosophically impaired individuals and assorted criminals...AND IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD.
Maybe it’s her fascination with wanting to be treated like cattle.
Brilliant, Nachum
BTTT!
I agree, and if you read the comments at the article, most understood her but also agreed with the stupid phraseology aspect.
Great tag line.

If we all end up wearing burkas I think we can safely say that the terrorists have won.
Buy a clue Lesley, please!
Yep, she’s a big contributor to Americans being ignorant.
If Al Goron had won, we would already be.
Point, game, match!
Leslie & her Lib friends may be wearing Burqas, but the real Americans will be using them as targets.
This will be a plus for her...
She’ll save on hair dresser expenses...
Win win....
was going to say, though I do agree with her that privacy is a thing of the past. We definitely are becoming a surveillance society.
There was a hilarious exchange between the characters on the television show `Person of Interest.’ Reese said words to the effect we don’t need to bug people any more - they put all the details of their lives on facebook. Finch responded “Why do you think I invented it? The machine[1] needed more information.”
Government doesn’t need to spy on people if they’re going to live their lives out in public like that. All that data is just dangling out there for the world to see.
[1] “You are being watched. The government has a secret system, a machine that spies on you every hour of every day.”
