I just looked at a detailed weather forecast (i'm a meteorologist) and the clouds are about to get thick and will be thick all night. That will ground any RPA (drone) support in which they could have used IR to see movement...and it will also be low enough to hamper helo ops...plus the vis will be low.
This is going to give him opportunity to get out unseen...if he hasn't already.
