Suspect #2 believed to be within a 20 block perimeter. Huge gunfight took place in Watertown neighborhood in which suspect #1 “black cap” was killed. MIT officer was shot in cold blood.
They probably did that to get LE attention and get LE chase them into a “booby trap.”
After their pics were posted all over the place by the FBI yesterday evening they had nothing to lose and wanted to go out big.
Why did these guys have to knock over a 7-11 to fund their operations? Don’t the cells get plenty of money from Saudi / Paki / Iranian etc. sponsors?

If they are AQ they knew this was a “Martyrdom Operation.” They probably had enough money to live for a year and recon and prepare. After their primary attack (Marathon) their orders were probably to just create as much chaos as possible before they were killed or captured.
The larger question is how many others there might be and what their orders are.

Uh oh, an officer just asked if residents could return to their homes. Response was negative as long as police tape was up.
Officer just took another call of a man reported sitting in his car for over an hour.
Can you imagine how tired the LEOs must be not really knowing whether they were going to a false alarm, a real problem or the big problem?
Looks like they planned to go down in a blaze of glory.
