MIT issued an emergency alert at 10:48 on Thursday night reporting shots fired on the university campus. The school newspaper reports, "Shots fired near 32 Vassar St (Stata Center), police officer down. Please stay inside." That report is backed up by CBS News's Bonney Kapp who reports hearing "officer down" on the police scanner just before the MIT alert went out. For now, details are scarce, but the suspect is on the loose and considered armed and extremely dangerous.

That was my question earlier in the thread. If these are the marathon perps, I'm amazed they are still anywhere near the east coast, let alone 15 minutes from Boston.

I believe they were fingered by the MIT cop, shot him, ran and hijack the Mercedes(although that story may change cause they let the dude go)?? Dude might just be telling cops that he was hijacked,etc. and been part of group that wanted out). Anyway then the dude they hijack fingered them and the chase was on for the vehicle. How they got all the bombs and explosives in the so called hijacked Mercedes is a mystery.

WOW! The feed from channel 5 Boston WCVB is nuts, they are showing a vid of one of lots of gunshots...anyone else watch the net feed of WCVB. I am too confused to know where is it and who was shot/shot at.
Sounds like this is a bit different than your run of the mill crime...unless explosions are typical.
