ALBERT W HERNANDEZ OBIT 0525.TXT
Bucks County Courier Times (Levittown, PA) - Wednesday, May 26, 2004
Albert W. Hernandez

Albert W. Hernandez died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at his home in Doylestown. He was 85.

Al was born in Tampa, Fla., to parents of Cuban heritage and grew up there with his beloved sister Hilda. He married Roslyn Kobler in 1950. Al designed the home in Wycombe where they lived for 30 years prior to moving to Doylestown 16 years ago.

Al was a Quaker and a devoted member of Wrightstown Monthly Meeting for 44 years.

Al's career included farming and poultry husbandry in the early years. His longest job, of 34 years, was with Fischer and Porter Company where he moved up the ranks as a self-taught hydraulic engineer. Intense study and commitment characterized much of Al's life. He was a scientist in the true sense of the word. Al was also an artist, who expressed himself through writing and who satisfied many of his creative passions through music. His family and friends will also remember him as a nature lover, an accomplished handyman, an ardent liberal and impassioned political observer, a frequently published “letter to the editor” writer, a self-made theologian, and an eloquent speaker.

Al will be remembered lovingly by his sister, Hilda Garcia; his wife, Roslyn Hernandez; his children and their spouses, Martin and Connie Reed, Judy and Akhil Tripathi, Lisa Vargas and Gustavo Esquivel, and Nina and David Taylor; his grandchildren, Lauren Reed, Sangeeta, Ravi and Sunil Tripathi, Matthew and Jennifer Vargas, Vito Esquivel, Nicholas, Michael, Christopher and Amanda Taylor; and an incredible number of dear friends.

Details regarding services will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Al's memory to the Doylestown Hospital Hospice, 875 N. Easton Rd., Doylestown, Pa. 18901.
