I feel for this young fella. I knew once people started pulling pictures of anyone at the scene with a backpack that some pour soul was going to be freaking out. It could have happened to any of us that happened to be there with a backpack. I can’t imagine having my face splashed all over the internet with that sort of weighted incident on my back for all the world to see when all I was doing was standing with my backpack watching a race. Glad he came forward.

Let’s be careful here. This kid is not the one being deported. From all appearances, he’s a normal kid with an interest in running. The police and media identified him and then backed off, yet people are still baselessly speculating about him or saying he has to “prove” he isn’t guilty. This is what Libs do when a crime can be blamed on a conservative — the Right is guilty until proven innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Whomever did it was probably flew out of NY headed east the next day.
The abc story makes it sound like this guy WAS indeed a person of interest and was questioned by authorities before being cleared, so that the published photos of him - before his being cleared was established - were not really cases of journalistic malfeasance, or at least not as out-of-line as critics suggested.
