I think she realized it was going down so why put your neck on line for a DOA bill.

Sen Toomey,
is it really worthwhile to put your neck out?

My wife speaks (as well as English .. ), Cebuano and Tagalog and I thought this;
"Ayotte a no .. " was the beginning of a Pilipina thread.

Exactly right. She'd have voted yes if it was going to pass, even if hers was the 60th vote.
Lautenberg must be relieved to not have to be wheeled in to the Senate.

New Hampshire has been turned pretty liberal by Massachusetts immigrants and RINO politicians, but there are still a lot of gun lovers there. I think Ayotte concluded that she just couldn’t afford to offend them, not even if Obama and Reid promised her tons of gravy for the state.

I’m trying to recall a Senator voting against his own bill (other than the procedural move to permit a motion to reconsider). I think it has happened, and IIRC, it was some numbnuts like Specter.

In her response to my email critical of her voting to allow discussion of the Background Check Bill, she stated that she stood by her support of the 2nd Ammendment, but she also wanted a vote on the bill.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she obviously wants the RATS to have to vote and carry that into next year's elections.
They either have to vote the RAT Line and pay for it, or vote to protect their incumbancy, embarassing Dingey Harry and Nazi Pelosi at the same time.
It will be interesting to see how McNasty and his girlfriend Lindsy vote on the bill.

I spent 20 or 25 minutes trying to listen to the Senator from WV try to tell us how wonderful this bill is and why we should all support it, and how the NRA got it all wrong, blah blah blah. To me, he was very condescending.
First of all, the guy sounds like he’s addressing 1st graders with the tone of voice he’s using.
Secondly, I think he’s full of beans.............. When I could stand no more, I turned it off. I had heard all that I needed to know.

GOOD! Now the rats DON'T have the votes and are biting their tails. Manchin-Toomey is a goner. So long, loser.

I remember that happening in the House when Wrangle voted against his own bill to reinstate the draft.

I assumed he was. Just musing that (again, IIRC, and oftentimes I don’t ;)) it’s rare, at best, a Senator votes against his own bill. It’s the sort of thing that is highly mock-worthy.

Your being pilio! Not sure if I spelled that correctly. My wife’s father was Tuguegarao and mother from Makati. Need more pinoy threads.
