The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms had opposed previous iterations of a Democratic proposal for univesal background checks. "It's huge," Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., told Fox News on Sunday afternoon as he announced the CCRKBA endorsement.

Never heard of this group.
That is how they get these bills passed, put a little ‘sugar’ in the bait.
No, it doesn’t bode well for their organization.
That is how they sell compromise.
He broke.
I don't care what they have in the Bill it is a GUN CONTROL Bill!
Thanks. But we’ll pass on that. Any outfit or senator who advocates more federal violation of our constitutional rights is anathema here (even if “good idea” or “reasonable”). Let them propose removing existing unconstitutional regulations instead. That would give them some credibility. But anyway that’s just the opinion here and thanks for your info!
Yup...and I’m facetiously giving it right back.
They get what they want-background checks!
Where is the Amendment to repeal the Gun Free School Zones Act?
No, we don’t need anymore Gun Bills, unless it is a bill removing all of the other laws against guns.
Did you read my link at 77?
Wait until the Immigration bill comes out and see how many 'strong border advocates' will rush to endorse the Bill because it makes the border stronger.
Sorry, but that will never happen. See "Fast and Furious", Waco, Ruby Ridge for examples on how government criminals get punished when they break the law.
The back ground check is not even a Universal Background Check. Its at gun shows, commercial venues, or the internet. And, to be candid about it, it doesnt cover family members, of any kind, or any friends, or any gun transaction, thats not done at a gun show or basically on the internet.
This will pretty much eliminate private sales and swaps at gun shows, flea markets and other commercial gatherings. The ATF will eventually determine even your 'gun for sale' ad in your local newspaper to be an internet sale if they have an online presence.
If youre not a resident of the state you cant buy a handgun. Under the so-call Background CHeck Bill, youll be able to buy a handgun in all 50 states, as long as you buy it from a licensed dealer you can buy it from anywhere you want.
Well that's mighty white of them considering that that law was probably unconstitutional to start with, just never challenged.
I don't care how much lipstick they put on this pig I'm not buying it. No compromise, not now, not ever. Repeal the NFA and GCA '68 and we'll talk
Have you read the bill or the summary in the links I provided? Can you now drive across New York and not spend the night in jail if you have a legal handgun locked in your trunk? Can you now go to another state and buy a handgun?
Before you jerk your knee right out of its socket, (like I did at first,) read what's in the bill.
Never heard of ‘em. Must be a Demon-rat front group.
a most sensible post.
Hi. No I had not read your link at 77 because I didn’t see it, I was only trying to respond to the post you addressed to me. I have gone back now anf found your link thanks. But it doesn’t open here, emits error message that there may be something wrong with the website. Whatever, I still haven’t read it sorry. But frankly you can come up with the most “wonferful reasonable” guncontrol bill and, despite its many presumed social benefits, its still going to violate our social contract (constitutional rights). Better a bill to repeal all existing restrictions. Then, if desired, a proposed constitutional amendment to adopt or permit whatever rules you think best. We are supposed to be a nation of law with the constitution as our controlling law. We need to get back more to that basic principle before we can “move forward,” however we may agree to define that. Just my opinion but many of our problems today result from washDC trashing our great nation’s basic principles *and our liberties in the procrss. Thanks again.
