I have never heard of anyone who died from MSG. They sure destroyed Chinese take-out since they were forced to remove it. I sure hope Bloomberg doesn’t hear about this.
People allergic to MSG exhibit severe symptoms that mimic a heart attack. I know this, first hand.
It passes in a couple of hours, depends on how much I eat. A handful of Doritos? No sweat. However, I ran into a restaurant that spiked their drinks with it not too long ago...man, I thought I was going drop dead.
No reason for you not to eat it, though. Enjoy!!
Death by MSG
For years, we have believed that a number of people have died from ingestion of processed free glutamic acid (MSG). In fact, we have received four reports of MSG-induced death, and a number of reports of near death episodes.
Years ago, the Truth in Labeling Campaign became aware of the fact that dogs, which are eaten in some parts of the Philippines, were sometimes killed by feeding them buns laced with vetsin (monosodium glutamate).
Following is an article that clearly establishes that ingestion of MSG can lead to death in humans.

I haven’t died from it; I’ve wished to die a few times. MSG causes extreme migraines in me so I try my best or avoid it by eating mostly at home and perusing every ingredient (MSG hides under many euphemisms, even under the ingredient “spice.” ) and only eating out where I have successfully eaten before, or choosing very carefully from the menu. And asking the waiter and manager.
MSG doesn’t kill you outright, not even make you puke all night. It just makes you like the taste of your food, then cumulatively negatively affect your brain. Enough of it in your life and you end your days with alzheimers, Parkinson’s, Lou gehrig’s, and other brain inflictions. It’s a neurotoxin, so it’s insidious. And most people not react to it or even know they are ingesting it.
For instance, EVERY* soup or broth sold in any store contains it. Every single one, including the ones that say NO MSG on the front. They just call it one of its many other names, including “spices.”
* there is one organic vegetable broth at whole foods that doesn’t contain it. However, it tastes like colored water. You could throw some old veggies from your fridge into a pot of water and create a better vegetable broth in 20 minutes.
